We all encounter people we find difficult to deal with. If not properly managed, these situations can escalate into confrontations: personally stressful and seldom productive. There are time-tested approaches, however, which can defuse these situations, increase communication, and shift the focus from conflict to problem solving. Learn to reduce your own stress and improve your results when dealing with those you have difficulty with.
In this workshop, you will examine your approaches to conflict that may be specific to your workplace and learn to decide strategically on how you want to deal with it. You will also learn the fundamentals of collaboration, how to shift from positions to interests, and how to work with resistance and defensiveness. You will also gain tools to help you remain "hard on the problem", yet "soft on the people".
In the workshop you will look at the dynamics of a Volunteer Sports Organization and how it can result in many challenges to those who seek to administer a program to try to meet the needs of all. Often this can result in dealing with very delicate personal situations with youth and senior alike. We will look at specific examples of real-life sports situations that exist every day on our provincial, club and national sports associations.
This workshop is aimed at those involved within the BCRPA administering one of our many recreational facilities. This dynamic will often be focused on the needs of the specific user group and how we can deal with situations when the public is really not satisfied with the level of service they are receiving in the moment. We focus on the skills of recognizing a good level of customer service so that we can provide the service levels needed.
A workshop targeted to groups who require Harassment Advisor certification for Provincial Funding strategies. This is also useful for groups who require a harassment officer within their organization to meet goals and objectives to meet liability issues.
